“Mark Maryanovich is one of the most talented photographers I’ve worked with. We invited him to come to our College of Environmental Design to take portrait photos of our department chairs and staff, with the goal of putting the portraits on the wall and on our website so that students and visitors would be able to see key individuals in the College. Mark’s portraits succeeded in revealing the essence of the individuals.

In addition, Mark captured vivid, evocative images of the buildings and landscape around our College, inspiring us to feature some of them in the College magazine we send to alumni, donors, and employers of our graduates. Best regards, Michael”
I first met Michael Woo, Dean Emeritus, College of Environmental Design, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (2009 - 2019) in January 2018.
His wife, Laurie Dowling won the Gift Certificate for a Photography Session I had donated to the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association’s Annual Beastly Ball. For 2017’s event, they were honoring Slash, GLAZA Ambassador and Lead Guitarist of the iconic rock band Guns N’ Roses. Laurie gave the prize to ENV.
“Dear Mark,
Oh gosh, thank YOU! For supporting the Zoo and for taking the most amazing photos of ENV. I just can't get over how magically you've captured the work and the people. I love the photos and am so glad you guys now know each other. You're amazing! Have a great spring and I hope we can stay connected.
Best,
Laurie”

Dean Woo asked me to capture portraits of the ENV department leaders and staff, with the intent of putting the framed portraits on a wall in the Building 7 Atrium, in other ENV buildings, and on the ENV website.
He then invited me back a few months later to capture some more ambient photos of life on campus. Photos that would be featured in Environs, the magazine of the College of Environmental Design.
Dean Woo and a few of his key staff members retired in 2019. I feel truly fortunate to have worked with and captured such a phenomenal team. People dedicated to the art and science of solving the environmental issues that confront California and the world.
“Hi Mark,
The pleasure and honor is all ours! We began distributing the issues today, and already I’ve had to replace the original stack at the Atrium since our students have been snapping them up. One department even took 100 for their use.
The drama and artistry of your images add that extra “oomph.” We’re so thankful to you.
I hope you know how many people appreciated and continue to appreciate your beautiful photography. We often receive compliments about them, particularly from folks who love their portraits to guests who marvel at the college images you've taken.
Thank you for capturing ENV's beauty in that special way you have.
Thank you for being such a dear friend to the college.”
We look forward to the opportunity of working with you to capture your own business environment.
