STEVE AZAR is an award winning hit singer songwriter recording artist
Hit songwriter, recording artist, music producer, golfer and philanthropist. Steve likes to call his own breed of music “Delta Soul,” a mixture of country, rock and blues.
His debut album Waitin’ On Joe was released in 2001. The title track went to #1 on CMT and featured Academy award-winning actor Morgan Freeman. Taylor Swift told People Magazine in 2010 that her favorite song of the year was Steve Azar’s “Sunshine.”
Slide On Over Here, featuring the hit single “Sunshine,” was spotlighted in Oprah’s O Magazine in her Top Things to Buy At Christmas Edition in 2011.
“Sunshine” was also featured in US Weekly Magazine in June 2012 as one of the most popular celebrity wedding songs.
I first met Steve in 2013, when I had the pleasure to capture images for Fat Trout Whisky’s marketing campaign featuring Steve as The Delta Man.
A singer, songwriter, excellent golfer and spokesperson are among Steve’s many talents, making him a perfect fit for the Fat Trout brand.
Steve has used our Images on a variety of materials ranging from album covers, ad campaigns and marketing materials to showcase his many musical, cultural and ambassador projects.
We spent a week shooting at various locations around Mississippi, including the historic Crossroads,
where the legend says blues musician Robert Johnson sold his soul to the Devil for the ability to play a mean guitar, to shoot the covers of
My Mississippi Reunion
and
One Mississippi
the new official
state song of Mississippi Steve authored
And "Fly" which was written and recorded for the 2015 World Alpine Ski Championships and was also the feature song on Sony Pictures Paul Blart Mall Cop 2.
Steve also hosts an annual Delta Soul Celebrity Golf and Charity Event
The Steve Azar St. Cecilia Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation.
St. Cecilia is The Patron Saint of Musicians and Composers, and the purpose of the foundation is to raise funds for charitable organizations, particularly in the Delta region, that aid sick, disadvantaged and abused children as well as supporting the arts within educational and cultural institutions.
The Steve Azar St. Cecilia Scholarship is awarded to qualified graduates from Washington County high schools through the Education Foundation of Greenville, Inc.
We then reconnected in February 2017, in Los Angeles at the GRAMMY Museum during GRAMMY week. Steve was giving a special performance at the Clive Davis Theater: Steve Azar & The Kings Men, a group of musicians who backed B.B. King, Elvis Presley and other musical Kings.
I feel truly lucky to have met Steve, he’s a constant inspiration as an artist and a person. His enigmatic energy and personality feel like sunshine. Steve glows with a warmth that makes everyone feel like a part of classic Southern charm and hospitality.
“You are a good man! And crazy talented!
Thx for making me look better than I am:)
You're the best.”
